Problems with TopTools Installation
If you receive the message "The HP DMI implementation does not
support your model of PC. Please contact your HP dealer for more
information", this means that you are trying to install a version of
TopTools that your PC does not support

Problems with the HP SMS MIF Generator
If the DMI information does not appear in the SMS Console, proceed as
follows:
Check that the SMS client is installed on the HP PC.

Check that there is an SMS.INI file in the root of the C: drive, and that
•
it refers to the correct \MS\SMS directory.
Check for an HPSMSMIF.MIF file in either the IDMIFS directory or
•
the NOIDMIFS directory. If it is not present, modify the "frequency=
" and "last=" fields in the SMSWIN.INI file to force SMSWIN.EXE to
run.
If no file appears, check that the DMI is running on the HP PC. Start
•
local TopTools and see if it is able to get data. If TopTools gives an
error message, reboot. If this does not help, reinstall TopTools.
If the HPSMSMIF.MIF file is present, and RUNSMS.BAT has been
•
run but no data appears in the SMS Console, delete the
HPSMSMIF.MIF file and re-run SMSWIN.EXE to create a fresh copy
of the file.
