MIS Management Information
System. A function which provides

NIC Network Interface Card. An
expansion card that provides a

POST Power-On Self-Test. A series
of tests the computer performs when
it is turned on.
RDMI Remote Desktop Management
Interface.
RMON Remote Monitor. A network
management probe installed on a
network segment. RMON probes
collect statistics and packets for later
analysis by a central monitoring
console.
RPC Remote Procedure Call. This
facility permits management
applications to reside locally (on the
managed desktop) or remotely (on
the management platform).
RPO Remote Power On. A method
whereby a PC (which has been
powered off) can be powered on by a
different PC on the network. RPO
uses Magic Packet technology.
RWU Remote Wake Up. A method
whereby a PC (which is in suspend
mode) can be woken up by a different
PC on the network. RWU uses Magic
Packet technology.
