Customizing Dragon NaturallySpeaking
Dragon NaturallySpeaking User's Guide
Four Four Six", Dragon NaturallySpeaking will transcribe "49 Orchard
Lane, Boston, MA 02446."
Certain addresses can be hard for Dragon NaturallySpeaking to interpret.
For example, "Two Hundred Forty Fifth Street" could be intrepreted as
245th Street, 200 45th Street, or 240 5th Street. In a situation like this,
Dragon NaturallySpeaking uses context to try to determine what you
meant. In some cases, using the word "And" can help to narrow down the
choices. In the example above, saying "Two Hundred And Forty Fifth
Street" would eliminate 200 45th Street as a possibility.
Abbreviations: Enables Dragon NaturallySpeaking to recognize most
standard abbreviations while transcribing your dictation if you say
"Abbreviated" after the word. For example, if you say "February
Abbreviated" Dragon NaturallySpeaking will transcribe "Feb." If you clear
this box, Dragon NaturallySpeaking will transcribe spoken abbreviations in
a more formal manner. For example, if you say "Ltd", Dragon
NaturallySpeaking will transcribe "Limited."
Contractions: Enables Dragon NaturallySpeaking to recognize contractions
while transcribing your dictation. If you clear this box, Dragon
NaturallySpeaking will transcribe spoken contractions in a more formal
manner. For example, if you say "Don't go near the water", Dragon
NaturallySpeaking will transcribe "Do not go near the water."
In some situations, the formal expression of a contraction may be
ambiguous. For example, the phrase "It's always" could either mean "It is
always" or "It has always" depending on the tense of the verb that follows.
In this situation, Dragon NaturallySpeaking will always transcribe the
contraction, regardless of how this option is set.
ISO currency codes: If you have selected the Currency option, then you
can select "Use ISO currency codes." This setting enables Dragon
NaturallySpeaking to display currency amounts with the international
symbol for the language you have choosen in the Windows Regional and
Language Options tool. For example if you have United States English
selected and say "Ten Dollars" Dragon NaturallySpeaking will transcribe
"USD10." You can change the symbol displayed by changing the language
on the Regional and Language Options tool in your Windows control panel
and restarting Dragon NaturallySpeaking. You open the Windows control
panel by clicking Start on the Windows task bar, pointing to Settings, and
clicking Control Panel.
Units of measure: Turns on automatic formatting of standard units of
measure, such as feet and inches. For example, if you say "Six Feet Three
Inches", Dragon NaturallySpeaking will transcribe "6'3"."
Phone numbers: Turns on automatic formatting of telephone numbers
when you speak a sequence seven or ten numbers. For example, if you say
"7815551234", Dragon NaturallySpeaking will transcribe "781-555-1234."
