To display chapter names in the time ruler
Open the desired timeline.

Note: This view setting applies only to the current timeline.

Editing assets in timelines

To trim video and audio clips in timelines
You can trim video and audio clips directly in the timeline or by editing timecodes in the Properties panel. You can
trim the In point or Out point of a clip, but if you need to remove a section from the middle of a clip or make more
advanced edits, use the Edit Original command to edit the clip in Adobe Premiere Pro or Adobe After Effects.
Open the timeline containing the video or audio clip you want to trim (or click its tab in the Timeline Viewer if it

is already open).

Position the Selection tool pointer over the end of the clip that you want to trim. The pointer changes to a red
bracket.

Drag the end of the clip to the desired location to increase or decrease its length.

To delete video or audio clips
The method you use to delete a video or audio clip determines whether subsequent clips remain in place or shift to
the left to fill in the gap.

Open the timeline containing the clip you want to delete.
Click one of the selection tools, and select the clip you want to delete.

Do any of the following:

To clear a clip from a track, choose Edit > Clear. Any other clip on the track remains in place.
To ripple-delete a clip, choose Edit > Ripple Delete. The selected clip is removed, and additional clips shift to the
left to fill its gap.
