To scale and crop still images
When you place a still image into a timeline, Adobe Encore DVD proportionally scales it up or down to fit the entire
image into the frame, placing a black matte over any unfilled areas. (You can tell if an image doesn't match the project
frame size if you see a black matte in the preview thumbnail in the Project panel.) You can use the Scale options in
the Properties panel either to turn off scaling or to fill the frame and crop the image.
Open the timeline and select the image or images you want to scale.
1
In the Properties panel, select a Scale option:

Maintains the original dimensions of the image. The image is centered. Any portion of the image that
Do Nothing
exceeds the frame is cropped. Unfilled areas of the frame are matted in black.
Proportionally scales the image up or down so that the entire image fits the frame, applying
Scale And Apply Matte
a matte as necessary to fill any blank area of the frame.
Proportionally scales the image up or down until it fills the frame, cropping any area that

exceeds the frame.

Note: Adobe Encore DVD scales or crops the image as a clip in the timeline. It does not effect the original clip in the
project or on your hard drive. Each instance of the image in a timeline can have different scale settings.
To edit clips in Adobe Premiere Pro and Adobe After Effects
The Edit Original command lets you edit video in Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects without leaving your
project. Once you export the video from Adobe Premiere Pro or After Effects, your edits are automatically updated
in any timeline containing the video. This command works only for assets that have been created in Premiere or After
Effects and have a project link embedded within them.
1
In the Project panel, select the video file (not the timeline) you want to edit.
