To add still images to timelines
You can add still images to a timeline that includes one or more movie clips, or you can add a series of still images to
a timeline to create a slide show effect. However, to create a slide show, you may want to use the Slideshow Viewer.
(See "About slide shows" on page 146.)
1
Select the image in the Project panel, and choose Timeline > New Timeline.
If the Edit Still Duration For Slideshows dialog box appears, enter the number of seconds you want the still image
2
to display. (To prevent this dialog box from appearing again, select Don't Show Again.) Click OK.
Adobe Encore DVD creates a new timeline with the still image placed at the beginning of the video track.
Drag any additional still images from the Project panel to the video track.
3
Adobe Encore DVD positions each still adjacent to the next and adds a chapter point to the beginning of each still
image. You can reposition a still image and its chapter point as needed.

To play back timelines in the Monitor panel
You can preview the contents of the current timeline in the Monitor panel. You can add chapters, type subtitles, and
edit the In and Out points of the subtitles. To preview your entire project and check the links, use the Project Preview
panel. (See "To preview a project" on page 187.)
Important: Adobe Encore DVD writes all timelines in a project to disc. Make sure that you delete the timeline if you
decide not to use it in your current project. Timelines that are not linked to menus are still accessible if the viewer uses
the title search feature available on some DVD players. Use Check Project to locate orphaned (unlinked) timelines.
Open the timeline you want to view (or select it from the Timeline tab if it is already open).

Moving around in the timeline

Moving the current-time indicator
The Timeline Viewer and Monitor panel work in tandem. The Monitor panel displays the frame at the location of
the current-time indicator in the timeline. When you change the timecode in one, the other panel changes as well.
You have several ways to move the current-time indicator to view different frames:
Drag the current-time indicator in the time ruler.
to begin viewing the timeline.
to pause the timeline.
