Symptom
Zip drive (available on select
models) cannot read a disk.
Zip drive (available on select
models) indicator light
continuously blinks.
Symptom
Screen is blank, and monitor
power light is not lit.
Screen is blank.

The wrong diskette
type is being used.
Diskette drive has
failed.
Windows does not
detect Zip driver.
Wrong disk is being
used.
Windows is not
enabled.
Zip disk is not inserted
properly.

Display (Monitor)

Problem
Monitor power cable is
not connected to
monitor or wall outlet.
Monitor is not turned
on.
Monitor connector
cable is not properly
connected to back of
computer.
Screen saver is
enabled.
Computer is in Sleep
mode, as shown on
the keyboard LED
panel.
If you have a flat-panel
monitor (available on
select models), you
may need a Digital
Video Interface and
connector.
Solution
Check the type of drive you have and use the
correct diskette type.
Call Compaq Technical Support. Refer to your
Certificate of Warranty for details.
Reinstall the driver for your Zip drive.
Verify that the disk is a Zip disk and that it is
compatible with your Zip drive.
Zip drive cannot be used in DOS mode.
Push the Disk Eject button to remove disk, and
then reinsert.
Solution
Reconnect the power plug on back of monitor
and at wall outlet.
Press the Power button on the front of the
monitor.
Inspect the monitor video connector for bent
pins. If there are no bent pins, reconnect the
monitor connector cable at the back of your
computer.
Press any key or move mouse to make screen
display visible again.
