Datavideo usually releases new firmware containing new features or reported bug fixes from
time to time. Customers can either download the HS-4000 firmware as they wish or contact
their local dealer or reseller for assistance.
The existing HS-4000 settings should persist through the firmware upgrade process, which
should not be interrupted once started as this could result in a non-responsive unit.
Successful firmware upgrade on HS-4000 requires:
 PC or laptop
 USB drive
 Access to the Internet for software download

Upgrade Procedure

You can upgrade the device either via the USB Service Port or Ethernet Port.
Service Port
Follow the steps outlined below to upgrade via the USB Service Port.
1. Download the latest firmware and the update tool from the path below.

2. Extract the contents of the compressed file to the Desktop.
3. Insert a USB thumb drive into the PC or laptop and format the drive to FAT or FAT32
system. Save the latest firmware files on the drive.
4. Remove the USB drive from the PC or laptop.
5. Insert the USB drive into the Service port at the rear of the switcher.
6. Power ON the switcher and if you see an image showing on the output screen after
about 40 seconds, then your HS-4000 has been successfully upgraded so remove the
USB drive from the Service port.
Ethernet Port
Follow the steps outlined below to upgrade via the Ethernet Port.
1. Download the CTL Upgrade Tool. Check your laptop's Windows version before
download, make sure the right tool is downloaded for your operating system.
2. Unzip the downloaded file.
3. Open the directory where the CTL Upgrade Tool is unzipped to.
4. Open the CTL Upgrade Tool by double clicking the tool icon.
5. Enter the switcher's IP address; please note that the default IP address is
192.168.100.101.
6. Click Source Selection to browse the hard drive for the latest firmware file (zip).
7. Click Start to begin upgrading the switcher's firmware.
8. When you are prompted "Upgrading Done", the HS-4000 has been successfully
upgraded.
9. Click CTL Reboot to reboot the device to finish the upgrade.
