Action Request Tables

Action Request Setup Rules

B-2
Using the NMS 6700 MIB, the following action request tables can be created. The
test, transaction, and report groups in the NMS 6700 MIB have tables that are
used in a similar manner, very much like table usage for RMON. Refer to
Table B-1, NMS 6700 MIB Objects, for object details. The general process is
explained in the following sections:

Report Table Setup Example
The following describes the common rules and sequence of the action request
setup.
Prepare a table entry with the parameters of the request.
When the parameters are Set, the action is initiated.
After completion of the activity, the results are stored in the table entry.
The tables will permit multiple NMS managers to request simultaneous
actions.
References to object names in the next sections are generalized by
substituting xxx for a table type. When actually accessing the objects, replace
the xxx with test, transaction, or report.
The entry status for the the Test, Transaction, and Report Tables include four
settings:
valid(1) – Entries shall exist in the underCreation(3) state until the
management station is finished configuring the entry and Sets the object to
valid(1). The action begins after the Set.
createRequest(2) – An object can only be Set to createRequest(2) when
creating a new test or new transaction instance. Not valid for existing objects.
underCreation(3) – Immediately after completing the createRequest(2)
operation, the proxy agent will Set the object to underCreation(3).
invalid(4) – Invalidates the corresponding entry. If there is an action in
progress when the entry is invalidated, the entry will be aborted.
