If the event involves a vehicle in front, all seg-
ments will immediately turn green once there is a
response to "Foot off the accelerator" prompt 3.
If ECO Assist cannot identify a recommendation
for adjusting the driving style for the event ahead,
nothing will be displayed. The system will be pas-
sive.
System limits
ECO Assist can function even more precisely if
the route is adhered to when route guidance is
active. The basic function is also available without
active route guidance. Not all information and
traffic situations can be foreseen. The quality
depends on the available map data.
ECO Assist is only an aid. The driver is responsible
for keeping a safe distance from the vehicle in
front, for vehicle speed and for braking in good
time. The driver must be ready to brake at all
times irrespective of whether the system is active.
The system may be impaired or may not function
in the following situations:
If there is poor visibility, e.g. due to insufficient

illumination of the road, highly variable shade
conditions, rain, snow, fog or heavy spray
If there is glare, e.g. from oncoming traffic,
R
direct sunlight or reflections
If the windshield is dirty in the vicinity of the
R
multifunction camera
If the multifunction camera is fogged up, dam-
R
aged or obscured
If road signs are hard to detect, e.g. due to
R
dirt, snow or insufficient lighting, or because
they are obscured
If the information in the navigation system's
R
digital map is incorrect or out of date
If signs are ambiguous, e.g. road signs in road-
R
works or in adjacent lanes
If the radar sensors are dirty or obscured
R
When you drive on roads with steep uphill or
R
downhill gradients
If there are narrow vehicles in front, such as
R
bicycles or motorcycles

Function of DYNAMIC SELECT
DYNAMIC SELECT allows a drive program to be
selected quickly according to the current driving
conditions or the desired vehicle characteristics
(
page 161).
