If you brake hard, the mechanical brake is
also used. This means that the maximum
recuperative energy cannot be recovered. The
more you drive and brake in an anticipatory
manner, the more efficiently energy can be
recuperated.
System limits
The braking effect of the electric motor during
recuperation in overrun mode may be reduced or
may not be available at all in the following situa-
tions:
when the high-voltage battery charge level
R
increases
if the high-voltage battery is not yet at a nor-
R
mal operating temperature
In these cases, the desired deceleration is set by
the brake control system.
▌Manually setting recuperative deceleration
You can use the steering wheel paddle shifters to
manually adjust the intensity of recuperation in
overrun mode.

When the vehicle is started again, the follow-
ing recuperation level is set:
hÃ: if hà was selected previ-

ously.
h: if a recuperation level other than

hà was selected previously.
The following recuperation levels are available:
hà Intelligent and anticipatory recupera-

The Instrument Display shows the currently selec-
ted recuperation level next to the transmission
position display.
ECO Assist function

ECO Assist is not available in all countries.
Depending on the vehicle's equipment, differ-
ent events ahead can be detected.
ECO Assist is active only in hÃ
(
page 157).

ECO Assist analyzes data for the vehicle's expec-
ted route. This allows the system to optimally
adjust the driving style for the route ahead, use
minimal energy and recuperate.
ECO Assist is displayed on the
Assistance
menu(
