The driver camera detects the driver's head

and line of sight.
The front passenger display shows content from
the MBUX multimedia system independently of
the central display. Depending on the application,
operation is independent of the driver. Depending
on the market, extended content, e.g. playback of
media content, is also available while driving.

When the vehicle is parked (transmission in
position j), the front passenger can use the
front passenger display.
If the driver has left the vehicle briefly, e.g. to
go shopping, the front passenger display can
also be operated.
If no front passenger is present, a digital dec-
orative image can be shown on the front
passenger display.
Visual shield function for front passenger display
The visual shield function is a function for the
driver. This reduces the peripheral perception of
the front passenger display.
Certain content on the front passenger display is
dimmed for the driver.
Requirements for activating the visual shield func-
tion:
The content shown on the front passenger dis-
R
play is blocked for the driver while driving, e.g.
playback of videos.
The MBUX multimedia system identifies the
R
content to be locked for the driver and locks it
automatically.
The driver camera is switched on.

The è symbol is shown in the status line of
the central display.
When the driver camera is switched off, the
visual shield function is deactivated.
The driver camera detects the driver's head
R
and line of sight directed to the front
passenger display. If the system detects the
driver looking at the front passenger display

for too long while driving, the display bright-
ness for the front passenger is reduced for
content subject to blocking. This content is
thus hidden from the driver's view. A symbol
appears in the top right-hand corner of the
front passenger display.
The front passenger display shows the contents
again in the usual way under the following condi-
tions:
The driver looks forward again.

No blocked content is shown on the front
R
passenger display.
Anti-theft protection
This device is equipped with technical provisions
to protect it against theft. Further information on
anti-theft protection can be obtained at an author-
ized Mercedes-Benz Center.
