Vehicles with Driving Assistance Package: If
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC is active
and the driver unfastens their seat belt and
opens the driver's door, an emergency stop
can be initiated immediately.
Vehicles with Driving Assistance Package: A lane
change to the adjacent lane (depending on the
country) will be carried out if possible. It is possi-
ble only to change across one lane and only into
the outer lane, and not onto the hard shoulder.
When automatic braking is initiated, Active Dis-
tance Assist DISTRONIC will be deactivated.
Depending on the country, the hazard warning
light system will also be switched on.
When the vehicle has been brought to a standstill:
The vehicle will be secured with the electric

parking brake.
The vehicle will be unlocked.

If possible, an emergency call will be placed to
R
the Mercedes-Benz emergency call center.
Before automatic braking is initiated, you can can-
cel Active Emergency Stop Assist by steering.
You can cancel the intervention by Active Emer-
gency Stop Assist after automatic braking is initi-
ated through one of the following actions:
Accelerating or braking: the emergency stop
R
will be canceled, but the warning message,
warning tone and power steering will remain
active.
Steering: power-assisted steering will be can-
R
celed, the warning message and warning tone
will remain active and the brakes will continue
to be applied.

Active Emergency Stop Assist can initiate an
emergency stop a maximum of three times
within a driving cycle. After that, Active Steer-
ing Assist and Active Emergency Stop Assist
will be disabled until the vehicle has been
restarted.

Vehicles without Driving Assistance Package:
Active Emergency Stop Assist will be inactive in
the following cases:
Active Lane Keeping Assist has reached a sys-

tem limit.
ý Active Lane Keeping Assist is deactiva-

ted (white status display).
ü Active Lane Keeping Assist is not opera-

tional (gray status display).

Active Lane Change Assist helps the driver with
changing lanes and is activated when the driver
indicates briefly.
