222 Driving and parking
For this, the following conditions must be fulfilled:
You are driving on a highway or high-speed
R
major road.
The vehicle's speed is between approximately
R
40 mph (65 km/h) and 110 mph (180 km/h).
The neighboring lane is separated by a dashed
R
lane marking.
No vehicle or obstacle is detected in the adja-
R
cent lane.
Active Lane Change Assist is selected in the
R
multimedia system.
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC and Active
R
Steering Assist are switched on and active.
Indicator on the driver's display on the
menu

Red arrow: lane change canceled
When Active Lane Change Assist is available, the
± indicator will appear along with green
arrows on the driver's display. If the system has
been activated but is not currently available, the
± indicator will appear along with grey arrows
on the driver's display.
If no vehicle or obstacle is detected in the adja-
cent lane and a lane change is permitted, the lane
change will begin after the driver has indicated
briefly. The lane change will be shown to the
driver with a flashing green arrow next to the
± steering wheel symbol. Green arrow
be displayed in the appropriate adjacent lane on
the driver's display on the
message reading

driver has activated the turn signal indicator
