Junction gate 2 does not have a solenoid.
Normally, it is held closed by a spring.

To feed paper to the
Gate 2
inverter tray,
junction gate 1
blocks the exit path
to the standard tray.
The inverter
rollers feed the
paper up to the
inverter tray,
then they rotate
in reverse to
send the paper
to the duplex
unit.
Junction gates 2
and 3 allow the
paper to enter

Gate 1
inverter/duplex
feed paths.
