The following chart contains explanations for the common messages. If other
messages appear, follow the instructions as they are displayed.

3. Troubleshooting

Causes
Improper original is
placed. See p.9 "Sizes diffi-
cult to detect".
Original is not placed.
Original is not placed in a
proper orientation.
Improper paper size is set.
A size of paper for which
Rotate Sort is not available
is selected.
ThePunch function cannot
be used with paper size se-
lected.
The number of sheets per
set is over the staple capac-
ity.
The Staple function cannot
be used with paper size se-
lected.
Solutions
Select paper manually, not in Auto
Paper Select mode, and do not use
Auto Reduce/Enlarge function.
Place the original on the exposure
glass. See p.11 "Placing Originals on
the Exposure Glass" .
Place your originals.
Change the orientation of the origi-
nal.
If you press the { { { { Start} } } } key, copy
will start onto the selected paper.
Select the proper paper size. See
p.31 "Sort".
The following paper sizes are avail-
able for Punch mode: A3L, B4
JISL, A4KL, B5 JISKL, A5KL,

"×14" L and
11"×17"L, 8 /

5 / "×8 / "KL. Select one of these

sizes.
Check the stapler capacity. See p.108

Select a paper size that can be used
in Staple mode. See p.108 "Staple".
