If You Cannot Make Clear Copies

Problem
Black or white streaks appear
on copies.

A shadow of the reverse side
of an original image appears
on copies.
The background is dirty.
The edges of pasted sections
are shown.
The same copy area is dirty
whenever making copies.

Image density is too dark.
The exposure glass or platen
plate is dirty.

Solutions
Adjust image density. See p.30

sity".
Clean the exposure glass or
platen plate. See "Maintaining
Your Machine", General Set-
tings Guide.
Clean the original and try cop-
ying again.
Be particularly careful when
using the following types of
original:
• Hand drawn or drawn on
with other forms of pencil
or pen, such as a plotter.
• Film, translucent paper, or
other originals that attract
static electricity.
• Very long originals.
Adjust the image density set-
ting. See p.30 "Adjusting
