IP Subnet Preferences
Description
If you are using DHCP you may set the IP Subnet Preference to
"Roam freely across subnets."
If you are using Mobile IP, set the IP Subnet Preference to
"Roam freely across subnets." This is the appropriate setting
because your workstation can use its fixed IP address on any
network subnet. The Mobile IP Foreign Agent on that subnet
automatically handles translations back to your home subnet.
If you are NOT using the TCP/IP protocol, set the IP Subnet
Preference to "Roam freely across subnets." Since you are NOT
using TCP/IP, IP subnets are not a concern to you and your
workstation can roam freely, without regard to IP subnets.
If you are using DHCP, you can also select the "Stay on current
subnet when possible." This establishes a subnet preference for
access points that are on the same subnet, which reduces the
occurrence of subnet changes.
If you are using a fixed IP address (that is, only valid on a single
subnet), select "Always stay on current subnet." Your workstation
will be unable to roam to IP subnets other than the one specified in
the TCP/IP settings for the BayStack PC Card adapter.
