Installing service modules

CAUTION:
• Keep filler panels installed on unused service module slots.
• To prevent a filler panel from being drawn into the chassis when fan speed is high, use both
hands to grasp the filler panel by its two sides during filler panel installation and removal on an
operating device.
• To avoid module damage or operation failure, use Type P service modules only with Type P fabric
modules. Type P service modules have a character of P in their module identifiers
(LSXM1CGQ36PB1 for example). Type P fabric modules have a character string of SFP in their
module identifiers (LSXM1SFP16F1 for example).
• Captive screws are required to install a service module on the device. As a best practice, fasten a
captive screw to a torque of 5.5 kgf-cm (4.77 lbf-in).
• Before you install a filler panel on the S12516G-EF, you must identify whether it is an MPU filler
panel or service module filler panel. As shown in
vents, but a service module filler panel has air vents on its front panel.
