STARTING SYSTEM
Remove the band or equivalent material [1] holding the
starter reel [2] and carefully allow the starter reel to
rewind.
Check the operation of the ratchets by pulling the
starter rope several times (page 7-2).
Install the recoil starter (page 7-2).
RECOIL STARTER ROPE BROKEN OR
REEL UNWOUND
Remove the recoil starter (page 7-2).
Turn the starter reel [1] in the direction of the arrow six
turns.
Align the rope hole [2] in the starter case with the rope
hole [3] in the starter reel as shown.
To prevent the starter reel from rewinding, hold the
starter reel and starter case with a band or equivalent
material (page 7-3).
Pass the starter rope [1] through the starter grip [2] and
make a slip knot [3] at the end of the rope.
Pass the other end of the starter rope through the rope
hole [4] in the starter case and through the rope hole [5]
in the starter reel, and make a slip knot at the end of the
rope.
Carefully allow the starter reel to rewind.
Remove the band or equivalent material holding the
starter reel and carefully allow the starter reel to rewind
(page 7-3).
Check the operation of the ratchets by pulling the
starter rope several times (page 7-2).
Install the recoil starter (page 7-2).
