Features Available with Password Authentication

The Totals Management feature allows you to total the number of
copies/prints for each registered account. When the totals
management feature is enabled, the machine cannot be used
unless the appropriate account password is entered.
Password Authentication can be used to authenticate machine
use for pre-existing user accounts. The user must enter the
correct password to use the functions of the machine. Print jobs
sent through the network must also be authenticated before they
are accepted by the machine. The account information set up on
the client must match the information registered in the machine.
To be able to send print jobs to the machine, you must first set up
the client with the correct account information. You will not be able
to send jobs to the machine if the correct account information is
not set up in the print driver. The machine will only print jobs that
are sent from clients that are set up with account information that
is registered in its system.
For information on how to set up the print driver, refer to the User
Guide (Print).
This section describes the features that can be managed through
password authentication. Print jobs can be managed through
password authentication. Print jobs are managed through the
account information entered in the print driver. Other features
(e.g., Copy, Totals Report, Scan, Mail Scan) can also be managed
through password authentication. User account information is
common for all features. Jobs that are not specified by the user
cannot be managed by password authentication.
