Configure the wireless interface, WLAN, on the FortiWiFi unit for use on the
network.
To configure the wireless interface
Go to System > Wireless > Settings.
Select the WLAN interface.
Enter the following settings and select Apply.
Address Mode
Enter a static IP and netmask for the interface. DHCP and
PPPoE are not available on a wireless interface.
Administrative Access Select the methods that administrators can connect to
administer the FortiWiFi unit using the wireless interface.
Administrative Status
Ensure this is set to Up. Otherwise no traffic can go through the
interface.
To ensure proper security and protection of your network and its information, set
the security options for the FortiWiFi unit.
To set the data security
Go to System > Wireless > Settings.
Select the WLAN interface.
In the Wireless Settings area, set the following:
SSID
Enter an SSID.
SSID Broadcast
Select to enable or disable the SSID Broadcast.
Security Mode
Select a Security mode.
Key/Authentication
Enter a key or pre-shared key depending on the Security Mode
selected. For WPA and WPA2 you can also configure the Data
Encryption and Authentication options
Select Apply.
Select the MAC Filter tab.
Enable MAC filtering if desired and select Edit.
Enter the MAC addresses and select to Allow or Deny them from the wireless
network.
Select OK.
Note: You will need to distribute the SSID and key/pre-shared key information with your
wireless users so they can connect to the wireless network.
Note: It is highly recommended you do not select None for the security mode.
Selecting None will leave your wireless network prone to hackers.
