Configure the wireless parameters

48
To configure the FortiWiFi unit to be a DHCP server
1
Go to System > DHCP > Service.
2
Select the blue triangle to expand the WLAN options.
3
Configure the DHCP server settings and select OK:
Name:
Enter a name of the DHCP sever. For example, DHCPSever_1.
Enable:
Select to enable the DHCP Server.
Type:
Select regular unless you are configuring for remote clients who will
have an IPSec VPN connection to the WLAN interface.
IP Range:
Enter the IP address range of the WLAN. For example, 10.10.80.1 to
10.10.80.20. These will be the IP addresses assigned to wireless
users as the connect to the FortiWiFi unit.
Network Mask:
Enter the network mask.
Domain:
Enter domain name if required.
Lease Time:
The expiry date of an IP address. This assigns a timeframe that a
MAC address will use an IP address before it is released to the
address pool. If you have a large number of users connecting, you will
want to use a shorter lease time.
Advanced:
Use only to specify several DNS servers (including WIN servers) for
the interface.
Note: The IP range must match the subnet address of the network where the DHCP
request was received. Usually this would be the subnet connected to the WLAN interface.
Configure the wireless signal parameters that the FortiWiFi unit will use to
broadcast it signals.
To configure the wireless parameters
1
Go to System > Wireless > Settings.
2
Configure the following settings and select OK:
Band
Select the wireless protocol used for transmission.
Geography
Select the country that best suits your location. The country you
choose will affect the available channels. If you are located outside of
the specific regions listed, select World.
Channel
Select a channel for your wireless network. The default should be fine.
However, if you have other wireless devices using the same channel,
it could cause interference and slower transmission rates. If in doubt,
select a different channel.
TX Power
Set the transmitter power level. The smaller the number the shorter
the transmission range.
Beacon Interval
Set the interval between beacon packets. Access points broadcast
Beacons or Traffic Indication Messages (TIM) to synchronize wireless
networks. In an environment with high interference, decreasing the
Beacon Interval might improve network performance. In a location
with few wireless nodes, you can increase this value.
