The COM PORT must be configured correctly before use. The radio can be added to a group of
instruments using NMEA protocol.

1. Select RADIO SETUP then COM PORT.
2. Select the desired setting then press ENT.
CHECK SUM ON (on) is the usual setting. The COM PORT uses 4800 baud rate and can receive
the following GPS data sentences: RMC, GGA, GLL, GNS. Additionally, the radio will output the
following NMEA DSC data: DSC (for DSC call), DSE (for enhanced position).

4.10 Select the GPS Source (GPS SOURCE)

This radio can use either NMEA0183 or NMEA2000 protocol to receive GPS data from a compatible
GPS unit.
Note: The NMEA2000 option will appear only if NMEA2000 is operational.

1. Select RADIO SETUP then GPS SOURCE. (If there is only one NMEA protocol available on your
vessel, only that will be shown.)
2. Select the desired NMEA protocol then press ENT.

4.11 Select the FM Region (FM REGION)

1. Select RADIO SETUP then FM REGION.
2. Select the FM region and press ENT. If you selected USA, EUROPE, AUS/NZ, or JAPAN, the FM
REGION selection is now complete.
If you selected OTHERS, you must also specify the channel spacing, upper frequency, and lower
frequency.

1. Select CH SPACING then select the channel spacing.
2. Select UPPER FREQ then select the upper frequency (between 108.00 and 106.00 MHz).
3. Select LOWER FREQ then select the lower frequency (between 87.50 and 89.50 MHz).
