Chapter 3
USB Controller
The item enables or disables the USB (Universal Serial Bus) Ports. Setting s:
Enabled and Disabled.
USB Mouse/Keyboard Support
Set to Enabled if your need to use an USB mouse/keyboard in the operating
system that does not support or have any USB driver installed, such as DOS
and SCO Unix.
Init Display First
This item specifies which VGA card is your primary g raphics adapter.
Setting s: PCI Slot and AGP.
AC' 97 Audio
Auto allows the mainboard to detect whether an audio device is used. If the
device is detected, the onboard AC' 97 (Audio Codec' 97) controller will be
enabled; if not, it is disabled. Disable the controller if you want to use other
controller cards to connect an audio device. Setting s: Auto and Disabled.
AC' 97 Modem
Auto allows the mainboard to detect whether a modem is used. If a modem is
used, the onboard MC' 97 (Modem Codec' 97) controller will be enabled; if
not, it is disabled. Disable the controller if you want to use other controller
cards to connect to a modem. Setting s: Auto and Disabled.
IDE HDD Block Mode
This allows your hard disk controller to use the fast block mode to transfer
data to and from the hard disk drive. Block mode is also called block
transfer, multiple commands or multiple sector read/write. Enabled enables
IDE controller to use block mode; Disabled allows the controller to use
standard mode.
Floppy Controller
The item is use d to enab le or dis able the o nboard Floppy controller. S elect
Enabled when you have installed a floppy disk drive and want to use it.

Serial Port A/B
The items specify the base I/O port address and IRQ for the onboard Serial Port
A (COM A)/Serial Port B (COM B). Selecting Auto allows BIOS to automati-
cally determine the correc t base I/O port addre ss. Setting s: Disab led, 3F 8/
IRQ4, 2F8/IRQ3, 3E8/IRQ4, 2E8/IRQ3 and Auto.
Serial Port B Mode
The field allows you to specify the operation mode for serial port " COM B" .
Setting s are:
IrDA :
IrDA-compliant Serial Infrared Port
ASKIR :
Amplitude Shift Keyed Infrared Port
Normal:
RS-232C Serial Port
RxD, TxD Active
The item d etermines the active of RxD, TxD. Setting s are " Hi, Hi" , " Hi, Lo" ,
" Lo, Hi" and " Lo, Lo" .
IR Transmission Delay
The field ena bles or disables IR tran smission delay function. Settin g s: En -
abled and Disabled.
IR Duplex Mode
The field specifies a duplex value for the IR device connected to COM B. Full
Duplex mode permits silmutaneou s two-direction transmis sion. Half Duplex
mode permits transmission in one direction only at a time. Setting s: Half a nd
Full.
IR Pin Select
Consult your IR peripheral documentation to select the correct setting of TxD
and RxD sig nals. Setting s: IR-Rx2Tx2 and RxD2, TxD2.
Parallel Port
This specifies the I/O port address and IRQ of the onboard parallel port. Setting s:
378/IRQ7, 278/IRQ5, 3BC/IRQ7 and Disabled.
