DRT4000-C & DRT4200-C Series Direct-Vent Gas Fireplaces
Installing the Backup Batteries
With a battery backup, electronic fireplaces can automatically switch to battery power. In the event of a power outage, this
allows ON/OFF operation (without blower functionality). Install new batteries before every burn season.
DRT4000-C series
1. Open the control compartment door (Page 55), and locate the battery holder.
2. Install four (4) AA batteries in the battery holder.
3. Close the control compartment door.
DRT4200-C series
1. Locate the remote receiver/ switch box. (this could be installed on a wall and require the removal of a cover plate)
2. Open the battery box door and Install four (4) AA batteries in the battery holder.
3. Close battery box door and replace wall cover plate (if removed)
Continuous Pilot Ignition Operation
Fireplaces with an electronic gas valves have a continuous pilot ignition (CPI) controlled by the remote on the 4200
series and a switch on the 4000 series
This switch allows the pilot to be switched from intermittent mode to continuous mode:
Intermittent Mode—The pilot is extinguished when the fireplace is OFF.
Continuous Mode—The pilot stays ON when the fireplace is OFF.
Fireplaces with an electronic gas valves have a continuous pilot ignition (CPI) controlled by the remote on the 4200
series and a switch on the 4000 series
To save energy—switch to intermittent mode.
For a standing pilot that will help prevent glass door condensation and cycle startup—switch to continuous mode.
NOTE: Continuous mode is indicated by a pilot that comes ON and remains lit when the fireplace is OFF.
Installing the Firebox Liners (see next page for more information)
1. Remove the three (3) optional firebox liner panels from the packing materials if purchased.
2. Carefully position the rear panel, upper edge first, in the firebox against the rear wall.
3. While holding the rear panel, carefully position the left side panel in the firebox.
4. Carefully position the right side panel in the firebox.
NOTE: Do not force the panels. Excessive force may cause breakage. If the panels are correctly positioned, they will
fit snugly in place.
