10. Troubleshooting
Error and Status Indicate on the Control Panel
Messages on the Screen
• If the "Service Call: SCXXX" appears, contact your sales or service representative.
• Depending on the model you are using, some error messages may not appear.
• If the "Engine Over Heat Please Wait" message appears, wait until the message disappears. If the
message appears during printing, the machine stops and resumes printing after the message has
disappeared.

Causes
Tray 1 has run out of paper.
The bypass tray has run out of
paper.
A paper jam has occurred in the
machine.
An original has been jammed
inside the ADF.
The paper for printing fax is not
loaded.
The front cover or fusing cover is
open.
Solutions
Load paper into Tray 1. See page 37
"Loading Paper".
Load paper into the bypass tray. See
page 37 "Loading Paper".
Remove the jammed paper. See page 164
"Paper Feed Problems".
• Remove jammed originals, and then
place them again. See page 164
"Paper Feed Problems".
• Check the originals are suitable for
scanning. See page 46 "Placing
Originals".
• Press the [Start] key to begin printing,
or press the [Stop/Clear] key to
cancel the job.
• Load the appropriate size paper.
Close the front cover or fusing cover
completely.
