The modules are grouped in ten module groups, which you access by clicking on the tabs in the toolbar.
The modules are visually identified with illustrations. When you place the cursor over an illustration, a
brief description appears together with an indication of how much Sound engine power (Load) the mod-
ule uses (PC version only). See
Each time you add a module to a patch, Nord Modular mutes the outputs for a short moment when re-
calculating the patch data. Theoretically, you could use up to 254 modules in each patch, 127 in the Poly
Voice Area and 127 in the Common Voice Area, but you will probably run out of patch Load before that.
It is possible to use several modules of the same type in one patch, except from the 'Keyboard voice', 'Key-
board Patch', 'MIDI Global', and 'Audio In' modules. These modules can only be used twice in a patch,
one in the Poly Voice Area and one in the Common Voice Area. The 'Poly Area In' module can only be
used once in a patch, in the Common Voice Area.

This group contains modules that gives you access to incoming MIDI or keyboard information. You will
also find modules that can patch the audio signals to the four physical audio O
and a module that allows you to patch signals from the two audio inputs of Nord Modular (I

R). The three Keyboard modules, the 'Audio In' module and the 'Poly Area In' module have a
NPUT
limit to their availability. You can only use one of each in a patch.

The Keyboard voice module provides you with access to a few basic and important signals associated with
the keyboard on Nord Modular, or a keyboard connected to the synth via MIDI. The signals are gener-
ated from each key played and affect one voice at a time.

This blue output provides you with a pitch (note number) signal from the Nord Modular keyboard or
from the MIDI I
N
is no need to patch this output to every oscillator you are controlling from the keyboard or via MIDI.
This is also the output for any pitch bend data that appears at the Nord Modular MIDI I
pitch bend will be scaled together with the note information, with the ratio of the pitch bend parameter.
This ratio is set in the Patch|Patch Settings menu, see
E4 (MIDI note 64), which is the middle E on the Nord Modular keyboard when the O
is in the center position, represents an output signal level of 0 units. MIDI note 0 (C-1) represents -64
units and MIDI note 127 (G9) represents +63 units.
