Clearing the Password (via Hardware Jumper)

Follow the instructions below to clear the supervisor level password from your
StorTrends 2104 NAS server.
Step Description
1 Completely power off the StorTrends 2104 NAS server. Physically remove the power cord from the
rear of the chassis.
Note: Whenever you are about to open the chassis lid, always follow ESD procedures.
Electro-Static Discharge (ESD) can damage the internal components of the StorTrends
2104 NAS server. Avoid contact with any component or connector on any adapter card,
printed circuit board, or memory module.
Perform all unpacking and installation procedures on a ground-connected anti-static mat.
Wear an anti-static wristband grounded at the same point as the anti-static mat. You can
also use a sheet of conductive aluminum foil grounded through a one-megaohm resistor
instead of the anti-static mat. Similarly, a strip of conductive aluminum foil wrapped
around the wrist and grounded through a one megaohm resistor serves the same purpose
as a wristband.
2 Open the chassis lid.
3 Locate jumper J5. Short pins one and two.
4 Close the lid chassis.
5 Re-attach the power cord to the rear of the chassis and power on the 2104 NAS server.
6 After two seconds, power down the StorTrends 2104 NAS server by physically removing the power
cord from the rear of the chassis.
7 Once again, enter the chassis by removing the chassis lid.
8 Locate jumper J5 and remove the jumper from pins one and two.
9 Close the chassis lid.
10 Re-attach the power cord to the rear of the chassis and power on the StorTrends 2104 NAS server.
11 Congratulations! You have successfully cleared the password from the AMIBIOS.
