Step Action
1 Note: If you installed the StorTrends NAS Software, skip steps one through four.
Connect the power cable to the StorTrends 2104 NAS server's power connector. Verify that the power
LED on the back of the chassis is lit green.
2 Connect the Ethernet cable into one of the two NIC connectors on the back of the StorTrends 2104 NAS
server.
3 Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable into a functioning Ethernet jack. Verify that the link LED on
the NIC connector is illuminated. If the LED is not illuminated, check to make sure that each end of the
Ethernet cable is seated properly in the NIC connector and the Ethernet jack.
4 Press the power button to turn on the StorTrends 2104 NAS server. The StorTrends 2104 NAS server
retrieves the information it needs (the IP address, gateway subnet mask, and DNS server address) from a
DHCP server on the network.
Note: It can take approximately eight (8) minutes for the StorTrends NAS server to fully boot.
5 From a client system on the same network, launch Microsoft® Internet Explorer 6.0 or later. Type the IP
address of the StorTrends NAS server that you just set up into the Web address field and press <ENTER>
or left click the Go button.
Note: If you know the MAC address of the network adapter, type the default system name (host
name) in the Web address field, and press the <Enter> key.
The default system name is nasxxxxxxxxxxxx, where xxxxxxxxxxxx is the MAC
address. For example, if your MAC address is 00112233445566, type the following:
