Dealing with a power failure

In the event of a power failure, isolate the input DC or AC power from the unit by
pressing the power switch on the back of the unit to the Off (0) position. When the
power comes back, resume input DC or AC power to the unit by pressing the
power switch to the On (1) position.

Cabling requirements for the Metro ESU 1800

This section describes the cable requirements for the Metro ESU 1800.
Required cables:
10/100BASE-T ports
Console serial port
Duplex SC type fiber
optic transceiver trunk
port (1800-24T-LX-DC)
SFP (1800-24T)

Caution: Before servicing this unit, turn off the power by pressing the
power switch on the back of the unit to the Off (0) position. Then, remove
the power connection. To remove the connection for the AC power source,
unplug the AC cord from the unit. To remove the connection for the DC
power source, remove the positive and negative lines before you remove
the grounded line from the unit.
For 10 Mb/s operation: Category 3, 4, or 5 UTP cable with an
RJ-45 connector.
For 100 Mb/s operation: Category 5 UTP cable with an RJ-45
connector.
Serial cable with DB-9 connector on one end.
Duplex SC type fiber optic cable.
Varies with the SFP type to be installed; refer to the
documentation that was shipped with the SFP or CWDM for
specifications.
