Powering up the Metro ESU 1800

The unit power supply adjusts to the local power source automatically. You can
power up the unit without having any, or all LAN segment cables connected. To
power up the unit, press the power switch to the On (1) position. The power switch
is located on the back of the unit.

Disconnecting the power source

Before you remove the connection from either the AC or DC power source, turn
off the power by pressing the power switch on the back of the unit to the Off (0)
position. To remove the connection for the AC power source, unplug the AC cord.
To remove the connection for the DC power source, remove the positive and
negative lines before you remove the grounded line.

Verifying a successful installation

In a normal power-up sequence, the LEDs light as follows:
If the LEDs light as described above, your installation is successful. Contact your
network administrator to verify that the Metro ESU 1800 is now connected to the
network.
Note: Make sure that your Metro ESU 1800 is properly grounded before
you power it up.
All LEDs blink momentarily to represent a system reset.
The Power LED turns on and stays on as long as power is supplied.
The Status LED flashes while the Metro ESU 1800 loads onboard software
and performs a self-test.
The Status LED remains on if the system is operational.
Depending on the transmission speed, the 100Mb/s LED remains on.
