Break-In Period

No special break-in is necessary, but a few
precautions in the first 1,000 km (600
m iles) m ay add to the perform ance,
econom y, and life o f your M azda.
• D o n 't race the engine.
• D o n 't m aintain one constant speed for
long.
• D o n 't drive constantly at full-throttle or
high engine rpm for extended periods
o f time.
• Avoid unnecessary hard stops.
• Avoid full-throttle starts.

Money-Saving Suggestions

H ow you operate y our M azda determ ines
how far it w ill travel on a tank o f fuel. Use
these suggestions to help save m oney on
fuel and repairs.
• Avoid long w arm -ups. O nce the engine
runs sm oothly, begin driving.
• Avoid fast starts.
• Keep the engine tuned. Follow the
m aintenance schedule (page 8-3)
and have an A uthorized M azda D ealer
perform inspections and servicing.
• U se the air conditioner only w hen
necessary.
• Slow down on rough roads.
• Keep the tires properly inflated.
• D o n 't carry unnecessary w eight.
• D o n 't rest y our foot on the brake pedal
w hile driving.
• Keep the w heels in correct alignm ent.
• Keep w indow s closed at high speeds.
• Slow dow n w hen driving in crossw inds
and headw inds.
& WARNING
C oasting:
Turning o f f the engine to coast down
a h ill is dangerous. This causes the
loss o f p o w e r steering a n d p o w er
brake control. A ny loss o f steering or
braking control could cause an
accident. N ever turn o ff the engine
a n d c o a st dow n a hill.
