Trunk Release Handle

Your vehicle is equipped w ith a trunk
release handle that provides a m eans o f
escape for children and adults in the event
they becom e locked inside the trunk.
No m atter how careful adults m ight be
w ith keys and locking their cars, parents
should be aw are that children m ay be
tem pted to play around vehicles and use
the trunk as a hiding place.
A dults are advised to fam iliarize
them selves w ith the operation and
location o f the release handle so that all
children can be told about it in an
appropriate way, keeping in m ind that
m ost vehicles d o n 't have such handles.

Open Trunk Lid a n d Children:
L eavin g the trunk lid open o r leaving
children in the vehicle with the keys is
dangerou s. Children could open the
trunk lid a n d clim b inside resu lting in
p o ssib le injury o r death fro m heat
exposure. Close the trunk lid, lock the
rea r seatbacks a n d do not allow
children to p la y inside the vehicle.
Unattended C hildren a n d Pets:

dangerou s. Babies left sleeping a n d
kids who lock them selves in cars or
trunks can die very quickly fro m heat
p rostration . D o n 't leave y o u r children
o r p e ts alone in a ca r a t any time.
D o n 't leave the car, the rea r fo ld in g
seats o r the trunk unlocked. A lw ays
keep the ca r fro m being a tem pting
p la ce to p la y by locking rea r seats,
doors a n d the trunk, a n d keeping the
keys w here children w o n 't p la y with
them.
