Rem oving the C ooling System Cap:
R em oving the cooling system cap or
drain p lu g w hile the engine is
ru nn in g or hot is dangerous. This
m ig h t lea d to cooling system a n d
engine dam age a n d could resu lt in
serious injury fro m escaping hot
coolan t o r steam . Turn off the engine
a n d w ait until i t 's cool. E ven then, be
very carefu l w hen rem oving the cap
o r drain plug. W rap a th ick cloth
aro u n d it a n d slow ly turn it
counterclockw ise to the f ir s t stop.
Step back w hile the p ressu re escapes.
When y o u 're sure a ll the p ressu re is
gone, p ress dow n on the cap
using a cloth
turn the cap, a n d
rem ove it.

2. O nly w hen the engine is cool, loosen
the radiator drain plug and drain the
coolant into a suitable container.
3. W ith the d rain plug loose but not fully
still
rem oved, flush out the system w ith
running water.
4. D rain the system com pletely and
retighten the plug.
