Upgrading Communication Manager-R2.0 to R2.X
This procedure is for upgrading the software on an existing, registered Avaya S8500 Media Server
running release 2.0 of Communication Manager.
Make sure you have the software ready to install either on a CD or on the media servers themselves. If
you are not installing software from the CD, then you must download the software to a PC and copy it to
each media server. Go to the Avaya Support Web site (http://avaya.com/support) and select Software and
Firmware Downloads.

Pre-site tasks

Before you go on site, verify that the following tasks have been done.

circuit packs. The patch is available from the Avaya Support Web site (http://avaya.com/support),
and the firmware is on the Communication Manager CD.
Verify that you have the new license and Avaya authentication files (if necessary). For an upgrade,

The basic upgrade process includes the following tasks:

CAUTION:

on page 39 for firmware upgrade procedures.
