Multicast network design
This scenario does not cause an accounting error because RADIUS uses the session ID to calculate
accounting time. Even though the route loss and OSPF recalculation caused the packets to be sent
out-of-sequence, IGAP and RADIUS process the events in the correct order.
To avoid traffic loss if you must disable an MLT link, use the following workaround:
• Enable Equal Cost Multicast Protocol (ECMP) on the edge switch (R1) and on both of the CDN
switches (R2 and R3).
• Set the route preference (path cost) of the alternative link (MLT2) to equal or higher than MLT1.
With this workaround, the switchover is immediate. Traffic is not interrupted and accounting does
not have to be stopped and restarted.
