Refrigerant Flow Diagram
Low-pressure liquid refrigerant enters the evapora-
tor tubes and is evaporated and superheated by the
heat energy absorbed from the chilled liquid passing
through the evaporator shell. Low-pressure vapor en-
ters the compressor where pressure and superheat are
increased. High-pressure vapor is passed through the

condenser where heat is rejected to the con denser wa-
ter passing through the tubes. The fully condensed and
subcooled liquid leaves the condenser and enters the
expansion valve, where pressure reduction and further
cooling take place. The low pressure liquid refrigerant
then returns to the evaporator.
