NOTE: Read the ftp_upgrade.doc included in the *.zip file.
1.
Make sure the firmware update has been downloaded to the user PC and is available in the
temporary folder.
2.
Make sure the user PC is connected to the CDD-56xA/L 10/100 Ethernet port via a hub, or a
switch, or with a direct Ethernet cable connection.
3.
Make sure the CDD-56xA/L Console port is connected to a serial port on the user PC with an
adapter cable.
a. Make sure the Remote Control port is not used for this connection.

Make sure that the connection and communication between the user PC and the CDD-56xA/L is
correct.
a. Find the Management IP Address:
b. Using serial Console CLI:
a. Go to Interface Config | Ethernet Interface
c. Use Command-line to send a ping command to the modem:
a. In Windows:
b. For Win95 or Win98: type command and press Enter
c. For WinNT, Win2K or WinXP type cmd and press Enter
d. Type ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx at the Command-line prompt, where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
e. Press Enter
d. Examine the results to make sure the modem is connected and communicating correctly

Use Command-line to start an FTP session with the CDD-56xA/L:
a. Type ftp xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP Address for the unit
b. Enter the Admin User Name and Password to finish the login
c. To set the binary transfer mode, type bin and press Enter
d. Type prompt and press Enter
e. To help the file transfer process, type hash and press Enter

Upload the files from the temporary folder on the user PC:
a. To start the file transfers, type put FW-0000###*.bin, where 0000### is the firmware
number, and * is the firmware revision letter
b. Press Enter
1. Click Start on the Windows toolbar
2. Click Run...
