Troubleshooting - Motor/Gearbox/Brake

SYMPTOM
Bad coupler between motor and
gearbox or bad bearings.
Motor makes a
clicking noise.
Raised commutator plate inside of
motor.
Bad gearbox.
Grinding noise or
Bad coupler between motor and
motor is locking up.
gearbox or bad bearings. Bad Gears.
Motors stall and

PROBABLE CAUSE

SOLUTIONS
Replace coupler.
If bearings are bad, replace motor.
Ohm out motor and replace motor if high reading
is present. Normal reading is .5-5 Ohms.
Replace gearbox.
Replace coupler.
If bearings are bad, replace motor.
Stop driving and let electronics cool.
Engage motor locks to drive wheelchair.
Ohm out motors. Check brushes and replace
brushes if necessary. Replace motor if high reading
is present. Normal reading is .5-5 Ohms. 4 Pole
ONLY.
Check for error codes with programmer. Refer to
the MK6i Electronics Programming Guide, part
number 1141471.
Inflate tires.
Replace tires if worn.
Use programmer to balance motors.
Check all connections. Ohm out each brake coil.
Normal reading is 48-80 Ohms.
If seal is bad, replace gearbox. Remove motor
brushes and inspect for grease contamination.
Replace motor if contamination is found.
If loose hardware is found retighten hardware.
Replace motor or gearbox.
Tighten hardware, (use removable Loctite®on
hardware). Follow torque settings in this manual.
Replace gearbox.
Check Anderson connectors. Check brushes and
replace if necessary.
Check batteries and recharge if necessary.
Check connector.
Engage brake.
