    Printing on Fabric Creation Flow This section explains the operation flow when printing is per- formed on fabric using the "Easy Designer" mode of the dedi- cated "Design Software" application. This guide uses Windows procedures for its examples. Removing dust and flattening fibers of the fabric. See page 11 "Removing Dust and Flattening Fibers".
  • Page 8 Select the cassette size and direction. Select the cassette size to be used and printing direction in the Design Software. DSB019 Select the image to print. Select the image to print, and then fetch it in the Design Soft- ware. It is also possible to shoot an image in your computer, tablet or smart phone using the camera on the spot.

    Printing on Fabric Removing Dust and Flattening Fibers This process is to print on fabrics clearly. The optional finisher is used. • Do not use the optional finisher while using the multi tray and the sleeve attachment because using it may cause a failure. Before set- ting the fabric in the multi tray or the sleeve attachment, removing dust and flatten the fibers.

    Printing on Fabric Loading a Fabric in the A4 Standard Tray This section explains how to load a fabric into the A4 standard tray. The same operation applies when the A5 tray is used. • When attaching or removing fabrics in cassette, take care not to trap or injure your fingers.
  • Page 13 Press the unlock button to open the cover. DSA348 Put marks on the fabric when loading it in the cassette. The image will be printed in the direction from the front side to the back side of the cassette. Turn the protective cover inside out and put it on the fabric in the direction as shown in the figure.
  • Page 14 Load the fabric on the table. • When loading the fabric, align the corners of the table with the marks on the fabric. • When loading a T-shirt or sweatshirt DSA219 • When loading a canvas tote bag or natural cotton tote DSA220 • When loading a medium size canvas tote bag or natural cotton tote bag in the A4 standard tray, the cassette might not have enough space for the tote bag.
  • Page 15 Tuck the edges of the fab- ric under the table. • Smooth out the fabric so that no wrinkles or slack remain on the print surface. • Tuck the fabric so that no wrinkles or folds remain in the area at the edges of the DSA370 table.
  • Page 16 After closing the cover, if there are still wrinkles or slack on the printing surface at the center of the table, push both ends of the cassette lightly and push the fabric under the table. • After closing the cover, check that the fabric is not caught between the cover and the cassette.

    Printing on Fabric Loading a Fabric in the Multi Tray When you want to print on fabrics that cannot be loaded on the A4 standard tray or A5 tray, use the multi tray at your own discretion. • If you perform printing with the edges of the fabric still outside of the table, the fabric or this machine might be damaged.
  • Page 18 Move the detection lever in the direction shown in the figure. DSA349 Adjust the height of the multi tray table. • Turn the four knobs counterclockwise on the underside of the multi tray to release the lock, and then adjust the height of the table.

    Printing on Fabric Loading a Fabric in the Sleeve Attachment When printing on the sleeves of a fabric, attach the sleeve at- tachment to the multi tray and load the sleeves in the sleeve attachment. • If you perform printing with the edges of the fabric still outside of the table, the fabric or this machine might be damaged.

  • Page 24 • Multi tray: Wipe the cassette with a damp and firmly wrung cloth or use a mild detergent. Use polythene gloves to avoid touching the ink directly. Use only a mild detergent and do not use chemicals such as thinner or ethanol. Printing Load the cassette in the cassette stand.
  • Page 25 Click [Start Printing] on the Design Software. • Print data are transferred to the machine. • When the machine receives the data correctly, the [Start] key lights up in blue. DSB023 Make sure that the [Start] key is lit up in blue, and then press it. • After the cassette is loaded into the machine and the height of the table is automatically adjusted, printing starts.
  • Page 26 After the cassette returns to the front side of the ma- chine, detach the cassette. • If the [Start] key is still lit, the printing has not been complet- ed. Press the [Start] key again without detaching or remov- ing the cassette from the machine. The printing will resume. • When using the A4 standard tray or A5 tray, insert the pro- tection cover horizontally as illustrated in the figure, and then remove it with the A4 standard tray or A5 tray.

    Printing on Fabric Removing the Fabric • When removing the fabric, be sure to prevent the print surface from touching the other parts. • If you touch the print surface before the ink fixes, the ink might blot on the fabric.     Printing on Fabric Fixing Ink Use the optional finisher to fix ink to the fabric. When using the multi tray, remove the fabric from the cassette, and then fix the ink to the fabric. • Do not use the optional finisher while using the multi tray and the sleeve attachment because using it may cause a failure.

    Printing on Fabric Handling Printed Goods Precautions when washing printed goods ■ N ote the following handling precautions for T-shirts and sweat- shirts: • Turn garments inside out before washing them. • When washing T-shirts and other garments by hand, dis- solve some neutral detergent in lukewarm water of about 30°C (approx. 86°F) and wash them without rubbing the printed areas.
  • Page 32 • When washing T-shirts and other garments in a washing machine, turn them inside out so the printed side is inside and put them in a laundry net. After washing them, shake out as much water as possible, smooth out wrinkles, and hang them in the shade to dry.

    If Errors Occur Error Messages and Troubleshooting • Keep ink and ink containers out of reach of children. • If ink gets into contact with eyes, wash eyes immediately with run- ning water. Consult a doctor if necessary. • If ink is ingested, induce vomiting by drinking a strong saline solu- tion.

    If Print Results Are Not Satisfactory Troubleshooting for Each Error When black or white streaks appear or when color shading or color shifting appears The print head nozzles might become clogged. Print and check a nozzle check test pattern, and then perform a head cleaning or a head flushing.
  • Page 38 If the print head is still clogged Repeat Steps 1–5. After this procedure is performed multiple times and you wait for a while, normal printing may become possible. If the print head is still clogged even after the proce- dure above is performed Repeat Steps 1–5.

    Machine Maintenance Nozzle Check When black or white streaks appear or when color shading or color shifting appears The print head nozzles might become clogged. Print and check a nozzle check test pattern, and then perform a head cleaning or a head flushing. If nozzle problems occur, print head nozzles become clogged and ink cannot be ejected properly.

Perform a head cleaning when a particular color can- not be printed or print images are blurred. Head cleaning con- sumes ink. When the ink cartridge is empty, replace it instead of perform- ing a print head cleaning.

    Machine Maintenance No-fuss Head Cleaning You can perform a one-touch head cleaning for all colors. • Do not turn the machine off during print head cleaning. If the ma- chine is turned off during print head cleaning, start again from the beginning.

    Machine Maintenance Head-flushing Follow the procedure below to perform a thorough print head cleaning. Because head flushing consumes more ink than head cleaning, do it only if the print head cannot be cleaned properly by head cleaning. When the ink cartridge is empty, replace it instead of perform- ing a print head cleaning.

    Machine Maintenance Head Position Adjusts the print head. Perform this operation if printed lines are vertically misaligned or printed colors are blurred. To check adjustment values, print test patterns applying "Thick, Standard", "T-shirt Fine", "T-shirt Speed", or "T-shirt Vivid" set- tings.
