Faults concerning Teach-In

No. Cause
30 The sheet cannot be taught because there is no
sheet in front of the sensor or the sheet thickness is
wrong.
31 Automatic material detection is not possible.
32 For LM material (slightly magnetical) only material
with a thickness of up to 2mm can be measured.

Faults concerning RS232 Transmission

No. Cause
40 Checksum does not correspond to transmitted
information
41 Dimension is incorrect
(mm instead of in. or in. instead of mm)
or no numerical character at the position expected
(e.g. --.00MM instead of 00.001MM).
45 The transmitted value is out of the defined range
(e.g. Program no. > 255)
47 The serial commands are following too fast.
48 A serial function was started although another serial
function was still active.
49 The command is not known.

Faults concerning measuring operation

No. Cause
50 The AD converter or hardware is defective.
51 The current between sensor and unit was interrupted
during measurement.
52 a) Measuring time is not realistic (too short)
b) The zero adjust was done with sheet
53 Shortcut inside of sensor / sensor cable (also
between lead and shields).

56 Parameters cannot be changed, since a parallel

Check sheet for correct thickness.
Repeat Teach-In.
If fault appears again, the sensor might be defective.
Select material manually.

Remedy
Check program and data transmission connection
Compare transmitted dimension and dimension in the
parameter set at UDK20.
Numerical characters in the data format require a
number. (e.g. 00.011MM or 01.0000MM)
Repeat data transmission with correct values.
Include a small pause between the individual serial
values.
Await completion of the active serial function, then restart
the serial transmission.
Check command.
Remedy
Change AD converter / hardware.
Check cable and connectors.
Check whether the sensor was removed during
measurement (Counter-induction).
a) Exchange sensor
b) Perform zero adjust without sheet
Exchange sensor / cable.
• Enter nominal thickness
• Perform Zero adjust
• Perform Teach-In
Remedy
Await completion of active serial function or stop it.
