Press the [Scan Settings] key, and enter the
Scan settings.
Scan settings are used to select the appropriate
scan mode for the document being sent. (See
"Selecting a Scan Settings," in the User's
Guide.)
You can set any desired combination of color
mode, paper size, resolution, exposure, original
type, etc. (See "Adjusting Scan Settings,"
"Storing Often-used Scan Settings," in the
User's Guide.)
Guidelines for selecting resolution:
200 x 100 dpi (Standard)
For normal text (larger than newspaper type)
200 x 200 dpi (Fine)
For fine text (equivalent to newspaper type)
200 x 400 dpi (Super Fine)
For fine text and illustration
400 x 400 dpi (Ultra Fine)
For precision illustrations
IMPORTANT
• Documents set at resolutions other than those in
the above guidelines are automatically changed.
Note that this may reduce image quality.

300 x 300dpi
600 x 600dpi
NOTE
• Both the resolutions 200 x 200 dpi (Fine) and 200
x 400 dpi (Super Fine) are pre-set in the Scan
Settings screen. The 200 x 200 dpi (Fine) resolu-
tion is called "Black Draft" and the 200 x 400 dpi
(Super Fine) resolution is called "Black 400 dpi."
• If documents are sent at 400
400 dpi resolution and the recipient's fax does
not have the same resolution level, the document
will be printed at the recipient's available resolu-
tion level.
