Is This A New Condition? Check:
Fuel system–for leaks, dirt, or obstructions.
Engine timing and ignition system.

Has Engine Always Done This? Check:

Is This A New Condition? Check:
Brand, type, or octane of fuel.
Spark plugs.
Water in fuel.
Condition of battery and cables.
Starter motor–for overheat damage.
Did Engine Refuse To Start After Being Run? Check:
Ignition system primary circuit.
Ignition coil(s) and/or ignition module.
Engine timing.
Flooded engine.
