Supplemental Restraint
System Indicator
This indicator lights briefly when
you turn the ignition switch to ON
(II). If it comes on at any other time,
it indicates a potential problem with
your front airbags or automatic seat
belt tensioners. On models equipped
with side airbags, this light will also
alert you to a potential problem with
your side airbags, side curtain
airbags, or passenger's side airbag
automatic cutoff system (if
equipped). For complete information,
see page
72
.
Side Airbag Off Indicator
(For some types)
Only on models equipped with
passenger's side airbag automatic cutoff
system
This indicator lights when you turn
the ignition switch to ON (II). If it
comes on at any other time, it
indicates that the passenger's side
airbag has automatically shut off.
For complete information, see page
73
.
Electric Power Steering
(EPS) Indicator
(For some types)
On Petrol models only
This indicator normally comes on
when you turn the ignition switch to
ON (II) and goes off after the engine
starts. If it comes on at any other
time, there is a problem in the
Electric Power Steering system. If
this happens, stop the car in a safe
place and turn off the engine. Reset
the system by restarting the engine.
Indicator Lights
The indicator will not be turned off
immediately, so you drive several
kilometers and watch the EPS
indicator. If it does not go off, or
comes back on again while driving,
take the car to your dealer to have it
checked. With the indicator on, the
EPS is turned off, making the car
harder to steer.
If the power steering system
overheats while driving, the assisting
power is reduced and steering may
feel slightly harder.
If you drive with the system
overheated continuously or
repeatedly, this can damage the
power steering system.
