Cooling System (Diesel models)
The cooling system capacity is:
(Including the coolant in the engine
block, the heater and the expansion
tank)
When the drain bolt on the engine block
is removed:
6.8 (1.80 US gal , 1.50 Imp gal)
When the drain bolt on the engine block
is not removed:
6.3 (1.66 US gal , 1.39 Imp gal)
Tighten the bleeder bolt on the

cylinder head
when the coolant
comes out in a steady stream with
Tighten it to:
no bubbles.
9.8 N·m (1.0 kgf·m , 7 lbf·ft)
12.
Reinstall the engine cover and
tighten the four nuts with washers
securely.

Maintenance
13.
Put a new O-ring on the bleeding
plug, then reinstall the bleeding
plug on the expansion tank
securely. Tighten it to:
2.0 N·m (0.2 kgf·m , 1.4 lbf·ft)
14.
Install the expansion tank cap and
tighten it slightly.
15.
Start the engine and let it run until
the radiator cooling fan comes on
at least twice. Do not operate the
air conditioning system. Then stop
the engine.
Make sure to warm up the engine
to bleed the remaining air in the
engine block.
EXPANSION TANK
16.
Adjust the coolant level in the
expansion tank to the MAX line
after warming up the engine.
17.
Install the expansion tank cap and
tighten it fully.
