• Do notallowplasticobjects,sugar,or foodswithhighsugarcontentto meltontothe
hotcooktop.Mertedmaterialscancause permanent damage tothe cooktop.Ifyou
accidentally meltanythingontothe cooktop,or a sugarysolution boilsover,remove
itimmediately whilethe cooktop is stillhot. Carefully,use a singleedge razorblade
heldwitha pot holderto scrapethe meltedmaterialor sugary boiloverto a cooler
area of the cooktop. Use several layers of papertowles to wipe up the spillover,
beingcarefulnotto burnyourself. Whenthe elementhascooled,usea razor blade
to scrapeoffthe remaining soiland cleanas you wouldfor heavyspilrs. (See p. 39.)
• Do notusealuminumfoilorfoil-typecontainers underanycircumstances. A luminum
foil willdamage thecooktopif it meltsontothe glass. If metalmeltson cooktop,do
not use. Call an authorizedJenn-AirService Contractor.
• Do not use the glass-ceramiccooktopas a cuttingboard.
• Do NOT useabresivecleansing powdersorscouring pads(including metalscouring
pads),whichwill scratchthe cooktop.
• Do NOT use chlorinebleach, ammonia, rust removers,oven cleaners, or other
cleanser not specificallyrecommendedfor use on glass-ceramic.
• Testcast ironwaresinceall are notflat. Alsobecautionedagainstpossible"impact
damage"shouldthe heavycookpotbe droppedon the glass-ceramic surface.
• Make sure bottomsof cookpotsare alwaysclean and dry. (Soilfrom the cookpot
bottom can be transferredto the cooktopsurface.) Before usingcookpotson the
glass-ceramiccooktopfor the first time, and periodicanyas needed, clean the
bottomswith scouringpads or othercleansers. Rinseand dry thoroughly.
• Make it a practiceto wipe cooktop surfacewith a c/ean damp clothor papertowel
beforeeachuse; dry thoroughly.Invisible spatters,dustspecks,cleansersor water
can cause stainsthat appear after unitis heated. A spongeor dishclothwhichis
notclean willleave filmand soilladendetergentwater whichmay cause stainson
surface after area is heated.
• When frying, use a spatter shieldto reduce spattering.
• Use correctcontrolsettingsand cookwarelarge enoughto holdfood and liquidto
preventboUovers and splattering.
• if a bad spilloveroccurswhilecooking, s pillsmay be cleanedfromthe cooktopwhile
it is hotto preventa tough cleaningchorelater. Using extreme care, wipe with a
clean damptowel. Be carefulto avoidburnsfrom steamor handstouching the hot
cooktop.
