ABS (ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM)
Symptom
Start switch signal is not received properly
(start switch circuit or start switch monitor cir-
cuit).
Check or maintenance job
• Check the coupler for any pins that may be pulled
out.
• Check the locking condition of the coupler.
• If there is a malfunction, replace the wire harness
and connect the coupler securely.
TIP
Turn the main switch to "OFF" before disconnecting
or connecting a coupler.
• Replace if there is an open or short circuit.
• Between ABS ECU coupler and joint coupler.
(blue/white–blue/white)
• Between joint coupler and ABS ECU coupler.
(blue/white–blue/white)
• Between ABS ECU coupler and joint coupler.
(white/blue–white/blue)
• Between joint coupler and right handlebar switch
(start/engine stop switch) coupler.
(white/blue–white/blue)
Symptom
Brake light signal is not received properly when
main switch is turned to "ON" (brake light cir-
cuit, or front or rear brake light switch circuit).
Check or maintenance job
• Check the brake light. Repair or replace the
tail/brake light if necessary.
Refer to "CHECKING THE BULBS AND BULB
SOCKETS" on page 8-172.
• Check the brake switch and brake light relays.
Refer to "CHECKING THE RELAYS" on page
8-177.
• Check the coupler for any pins that may be pulled
out.
• Check the locking condition of the coupler.
• If there is a malfunction, replace the wire harness
and connect the coupler securely.
TIP
Turn the main switch to "OFF" before disconnecting
or connecting a coupler.
