5.6.1
Floppy Disk Handling Preeations
Disks are very important to your system unit.
Handle
them with care.
If
one beeps damaged you could lose
valuable information.
A few precautions will increase
the lifetime of your disks.
o
When not in use, store disks in the container they
came in.
o
Do not touch or attempt to clean a disk inside a
plastic jacket.

or cleaning fluid may
prevent
an
FDD
from
being
properly
read
information on a disk.
o
Information on a disk may be damaged if the disk
is twisted, bent, or dropped sharply, or if it is
exposed to direct sunlight, extreme heat or cold,
food, liquid or dust particles, including smoke.
o
Do not use a pencil or a ballpoint pen when you
write on a label attached to a disk.
o
Do not use erasers on a label or near a disk.
o
Do not expose a disk
to sources of
magnetic
energy.
Keep it away from a loud-speaker in a
radio or a television set.
o
Do not place a heavy objects on disks.
o
Do not use a rubber band or a paper clip on a
disk.
