Internal and External Commands
Internal commands
are resident
in
memory
and
can
perform
tasks
without
accessing
the
system
disk.
Some of the internal commands are:
COpy
DIR
RENAME
TYPE
You need not keep the MS-DOS system disk inserted in
the drive when you use these commands.
External commands reside on the system disk.
They
must be read from the disk before they can execute.
In
other words, the system disk must be in a drive
when you use an external command.
